Tamra Johnson has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Tamra began their career as a Television News Reporter for WXMI FOX 17, where they effectively communicated and reported on complex issues for live television broadcasts. Tamra also utilized social media to update the public on breaking stories and encourage community involvement.

Johnson then transitioned to St. Vincent Catholic Charities, where they served as the Community Relations and Marketing Director. In this role, they oversaw the strategic development and implementation of the agency's marketing and community relations plan. Tamra wrote, designed, and distributed various public relations and marketing materials and developed a social media plan to increase the agency's local audience and educate the community about its programs and services.

After their time at St. Vincent Catholic Charities, Johnson joined AAA National as the Spokesperson & PR Manager. Tamra became a national spokesperson responsible for achieving national visibility through prominent media outlets for AAA's traffic safety and advocacy priorities. Tamra developed and implemented effective PR plans, incorporating news writing, media relations, and other outreach tactics.

Currently, Johnson is associated with the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA), where they hold the position of Assistant Vice President of Public Affairs. Tamra leads multi-media communications efforts to advance APCIA's strategic goals and long-term consumer education initiatives. Johnson also plays a leadership role in developing and executing communication plans for road safety issues, contributing to key APCIA events focused on diversity and inclusion.

In the future, they are expected to take on the role of Vice President of Public Affairs at the American Property Casualty Insurance Association.

Tamra Johnson, CDP, holds a Master of Arts degree in Journalism with a focus on Broadcast/Multimedia Journalism which they obtained from Michigan State University in 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Media at the University of Michigan, where they attended from 2004 to 2008.

In addition to their academic achievements, Tamra Johnson has obtained certifications to further enhance their expertise. Tamra is a certified Diversity Professional (CDP), which they earned through the National Diversity Council in August 2020. Furthermore, they also hold a Diversity & Inclusion Professional certification from the University of Georgia - Terry College of Business, which they acquired in March 2023.
