Ms. Caroline Simpson joined American Public University System in 2005. She has served in a variety of roles, each of which have focused on the design and delivery of high quality, relevant and supportive services and programs. Her emphasis has been on co-curricular programming and resources and on engaging with students and alumni outside of the classroom. Currently, Ms. Simpson is the Assistant Provost of Student & Alumni Services; she oversees Student & Alumni Affairs, Career Services, University Events, Student Conduct & Grievances, and Chaplain Services for APUS’s student and alumni community. Additionally, she serves as the TitleIX Coordinator, is the co-chair of the APUS Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, and is the lead for the Student Experience Redesign Project.
Ms. Simpson’s career has centered on education and student support at various learning levels. After earning her B.A. in English with a secondary teaching license from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, she taught in a public secondary environment. Next, in a charter school environment, Ms. Simpson taught elementary-age students. After classroom teaching, she moved into an administrative role at an intergenerational preschool. As the Program Coordinator, she designed learning, development, and engagement opportunities for the students and the retirement community residents.
She earned an M.A. in Management with American Public University in 2010. She knows what it is like to be an adult learner and is passionate about supporting the AMU and APU adult learner community members as they work towards their educational goals.
