Paula Morabito

Assistant Superintendent, AED at AMERICAN SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

Paula Morabito has recently joined ASD's Executive Leadership Team as Director of Education, beginning August 15, 2019. Paula is responsible for the daily administration of all on-campus educational programs while serving as the primary liaison between ASD, Local Education Authorities (LEAs), and other state agencies.

Prior to joining the American School for the Deaf, Paula worked for over fourteen years in educational leadership as a Director of Student Services in public schools. There, she worked collaboratively with district-wide administrators and staff providing oversight and guidance on several programs, including preschool through transition programs, and a district autism program. Paula possesses extensive knowledge about IEP facilitation and mediation, Crisis Prevention and Intervention, and State Department of Education regulations.

Paula's previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf at St. Joseph's School for the Deaf in New York also provides her with a firsthand knowledge about the field of Deaf Education and the unique learning styles of deaf and hard of hearing students.

Paula earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Trinity College, her M.A. degree in Deaf Education from Columbia University/Teachers College, and a Sixth-Year degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Hartford.
