Matthew Hilliker has extensive work experience in finance and accounting. Matthew currently serves as the Director of Finance at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) since August 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Controller at The American Association of Immunologists from January 2022 to July 2022.
Matthew's career began in 2004 as a Staff Accountant at Ross Langan & McKendree, LLP. Matthew then worked as a Senior Accountant at Wright & Company from July 2008 to November 2009. Matthew continued to advance their career as an Assistant Controller at the National Wildlife Federation from November 2009 to July 2011. Following that, they served as an Accounting Manager at EEI Communications from July 2011 to July 2012.
Matthew's most significant role prior to their current position was as the Chief Financial Officer at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics - ASPET, where they worked from July 2012 to December 2021.
Matthew Hilliker obtained their Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from William & Mary, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. Matthew later pursued a Master's Degree in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Maryland Global Campus, attending from 2012 to 2014. In addition to their degrees, they became a Certified Public Accountant, obtaining this certification from the VBOA - Virginia Board of Accountancy in February 2014.
