Charles D. Varela M.D.

Charles D. Varela, MD, is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon and Hand Surgeon currently practicing at White River Health Systems since February 2021. Varela holds board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and possesses an added certification in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity. Prior to current responsibilities, Varela practiced at Ozark Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Center, PA. Educational achievements include completing a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Duke University and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, alongside earning a Doctor of Medicine from The University of New Mexico School of Medicine and a B.S. in Biology from Tulane University. Varela served in the US Army as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and has a strong foundation in the field dating back to orthopedic surgery residency training.
