Christopher R. Merlan

Chief Digital Officer & EVP at American Society Of Clinical Oncology

Mr. Merlan is the Chief Digital Officer and Executive Vice President of ASCO. He is a digital operations and technology leader with 25 years of successful and diverse experience spanning change management, enterprise architecture, program delivery, strategic planning, and operational leadership. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Rhode Island (URI) and continued his studies at URI to pursue his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration.

Prior to joining ASCO, Mr. Merlan led delivery and operations for a digital transformation project at Publicis Groupe. He has also held leadership roles at Sapient and NormaTec. At MIT, he was the Publication Director for the OpenCourseWare initiative, and was the Technology and Practice Manager for Grants Management at Harvard University.

Mr. Merlan is a leader in the technology field, having led high-performing teams at Sapient, MIT, and Harvard. He excels at enabling people and teams to reach their highest potential through open and honest communication and allowing people to take risks and grow.
