Ms. Michels serves as ASCO’s Chief Operating Officer, Chief Legal Officer & Executive Vice President as well as being the organization’s general counsel and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. She leads ASCO’s Center for Integrity and Law (CEIL), encompassing legal, governance, ethics, and compliance activities. In addition to CEIL, the Human Resources Department falls within her leadership portfolio. Prior to joining ASCO in 2006, Ms. Michels was a partner with Ropes & Gray LLP, in its Corporate Department and Health Care Group. She anchored the firm’s mid-Atlantic health care practice, representing numerous academic medical institutions and hospitals in corporate and regulatory matters. Ms. Michels earned a bachelor’s degree in history and literature from Harvard College, and a law degree with honors from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. Ms. Michels is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies.
