Loretta Nunez

Senior Director Academic Affairs Research Education at ASHA

Loretta Nunez has extensive experience in the field of communication sciences and disorders. Loretta began their career as a Visiting Assistant Professor at The University of Akron in 1981 and then served as an Instructor at Kent State University from 1982 to 1989. Loretta later became the Director of Speech & Hearing Center at The University of Akron from 1993 to 1998. Loretta'swork then led their to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where they held the position of Assistant from 1999 to 2003. Loretta then joined the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as the Senior Director of Academic Affairs & Research Education, where they led strategic initiatives to advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Loretta Nunez holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Speech & Hearing Science from The Ohio State University. Loretta also obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology from the same institution. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree in Audiology from Central Michigan University. Furthermore, they obtained a certification in CCC-A/SLP from the Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CFCC) of ASHA. Additionally, they are a licensed audiologist and speech-language pathologist in the state of Maryland, holding licenses in both fields from the Maryland Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists.
