David Rumsey

Past President at American Translators Association

David Rumsey has extensive experience in translation and project management. David started their career in 1991 as the Owner & Translator at North Country Translation, where they specialized in translating technology, medicine, and business documents. In 1993, they became a Project Manager at LinguaNet, handling various projects including Korean voiceovers and employee surveys. From 1991 to 1993, they worked as a Marketing Project Manager at Polyglot International, Inc., providing support for translation sales representatives. In 2001, they joined Oracle as a Localization Manager, responsible for coordinating the translation and localization of retail software. David also has leadership experience, serving as the Past President of the American Translators Association in 2017 and as the Nordic Division Administrator from 2000 to 2004. Currently, they are the Owner and Leadership Consultant at Boardroom Buddha, where they offer customized training and consulting services to help groups have successful and productive meetings.

David Rumsey obtained their Bachelor's degree in History from McGill University from 1983 to 1987. David then pursued a Graduate Diploma in Political Science and Government from Stockholm University from 1987 to 1990. Subsequently, they enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1989 to 1991 to earn a Master's degree in European History. David Rumsey also holds certifications as a Certified Translator from the Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC S.T.I.B.C. and the American Translators Association.
