Lauren Phelps is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in public affairs, communications, and financial operations. Currently serving as Special Assistant to the Dean and previously as Assistant to the Associate Vice President of Financial Operations at American University since September 2021, Lauren has also held roles in communications at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, where responsibilities included managing social media, creating newsletters, and leading a communication team. Prior internships include working with the U.S. House of Representatives and providing customer service at Joes Landscaping and Nursery. Lauren holds a Master of Public Administration and Policy from American University, along with additional certifications in budget and finance and nonprofit management, complemented by undergraduate degrees in International/Global Studies and Communication and Media Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
