David Gong

David Gong, Ph.D., currently serves as a Senior Software Engineer II at American Water since November 2018, previously holding the roles of Senior Technologist II and Senior Technologist within the same company. Prior experience includes working as an Application Developer in Big Data at IBM from July 2017 to November 2018. David's academic background includes postdoctoral research positions focusing on big data and machine learning at Southern University and A&M College from September 2013 to December 2016, as well as machine learning and geospatial data mining at the University of Southern Mississippi from June 2011 to August 2013. David's career began as a Research Assistant Professor in geospatial data mining at Wenzhou Medical University from July 2009 to May 2011. David holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Ecology with a focus on machine learning and data mining from Sun Yat-sen University and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science specializing in Big Data engineering from Southern University and A&M College. Additionally, David participated in a Joint PhD program at The University of Toledo.
