SVP & President, New Jersey American Water at American Water

Mark McDonough is the Senior Vice President and President of New Jersey American Water. Mark has dedicated their career to water law and compliance, starting as Deputy General Counsel and Director of Federal Policy andCompliance for American Water Enterprises. In this role, they were responsible for the representation of unregulated subsidiaries of American Water Works Company, Inc. Mark also served as the lead corporate counsel and Director of Federal Policy and Compliance for AWE's Military Services Group. In this role, they were responsible for the implementation and execution of federal compliance programs and the Federal Policy Program. Mark also led initiatives involving fuller engagement with Congress and the Executive branch, including Congressional liaison and Armed Services.

In 2005, Mark joined New Jersey American Water as Senior Vice President and President. In this role, they are responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations in New Jersey, including business strategy, fiscal management, regulatory affairs, environmental compliance, customer service, and community relations. Under their leadership, New Jersey American Water has been recognized as one of the best water utilities in the country.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.

Mark McDonough completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware, where they majored in criminal justice. Mark then went on to complete their master's degree in justice at American University. Finally, they obtained their JD from George Mason University - Antonin Scalia Law School.
