Jonathan Hughes

Director, Global Operations at Americares

Jonathan Hughes has extensive work experience in the field of global operations and international cooperation. Jonathan began their career as an ESL Teaching Assistant at Partners-in-Learning in 2008 and then worked as a Spanish Tutor at Syracuse University from 2009 to 2011. In 2010, they gained valuable experience as an International Cooperation for Development Intern at Fundeso and as a Research Assistant at CITpax.

Jonathan joined Americares in 2011 and held various roles within the organization. Jonathan started as a Medical Outreach Program Intern and then progressed to positions such as Associate, Latin American Partnerships, and Senior Associate, Latin American Partnerships. Jonathan also served as a Procurement and Supply Specialist for the Ebola response and as a Manager for LAC Programs.

In 2019, Jonathan became the Associate Director for Latin American & Caribbean Programs, and later in 2021, they were promoted to Associate Director for Global Operations. Currently, they hold the position of Director, Global Operations at Americares, a role they started in 2022. Their experience at Americares includes leading teams for hurricane response and recovery efforts, managing partnerships and supply chains, and overseeing program operations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Jonathan Hughes attended Syracuse University from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Spanish. In 2010, they also briefly studied at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
