Dennis Matheis

Director at America’s Health Insurance Plans

Dennis Matheis is the current director at America’s Health Insurance Plans. Dennis has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to their current position, they served as the senior vice president at Anthem, Inc. from March 2011 to June 2017. In this role, they were responsible for leading the integration of the largest proposed merger in the healthcare industry.

From May 2004 to November 2006, Matheis served as the general manager for group business at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri. In this role, they were responsible for all employer groups with 50 or more employees and had P&L responsibility for 370,000 members with revenue of $674M.

Before their time at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri, Matheis served as the president at Health Partners of the Midwest from July 1997 to February 2000. Health Partners of the Midwest is a 115,000 member managed care plan owned by BJC Health System and Washington University School of Medicine. As president, they were responsible for the daily operations of the health plan as well as developing the plans strategic objectives. Dennis reported directly to the Board of Directors which was comprised of physicians, hospital executives and community business leaders.

Matheis has also served as the president at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri / HealthLink from November 2006 to July 2011.

Dennis Matheis earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.
