Sara Brathwaite

Academic Director - West Coast at Amerigo Education

Sara Brathwaite has a wide range of work experience in the field of education. Sara is currently the Director of Campus Operations at Amerigo Education, a role they have held since April 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Acting Director and English Language Learning Coordinator at the same company from December 2021 to April 2022 and from July 2018 to December 2021, respectively.

Before joining Amerigo Education, Sara worked at the University of California Riverside Extension as the TESOL Academic Coordinator from January 2012 to July 2018. In this role, they were responsible for coordinating various TESOL and TEFL programs, developing courses, managing recruitment, and assessing student progress. Sara also taught courses in linguistics and TESOL methodologies.

Prior to their role at the University of California Riverside Extension, Sara served as a Teacher Trainer at the Center for Teacher Development from May 2010 to December 2011. Sara also worked as an EFL Teacher at Politénico Internacional Costa Rica from May 2010 to December 2011.

During their career, Sara has also worked as an ESL Teacher at the University of Alabama English Language Institute from August 2009 to May 2010, and as a Graduate Student Teaching Assistant at The University of Alabama from August 2007 to May 2009. In their role as a Graduate Student Teaching Assistant, they taught academic writing courses, tutored undergraduate students, mentored a co-teacher, and coordinated the English Proficiency Placement Exam.

Sara started their career as an ESL Teacher and Teaching Assistant at the Llifelong Learning Center from June 2006 to August 2007.

Sara Brathwaite has a Master's of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL from The University of Alabama, which they obtained from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's of Arts degree in Spanish & Linguistics at Wake Forest University from 2002 to 2006. In addition to their formal education, Sara also has additional certifications in Interpreting (English-Spanish) and Translation (English-Spanish) from Wake Forest University. The specific dates or months of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
