Cheryl Monkman

Vice President, Corporate Audit at AmeriHealth Caritas

Cheryl Monkman has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Cheryl started their career as a Staff Accountant at Marine National Bank in October 1987 and worked there until February 1989. Cheryl then moved on to Showboat Casino/Hotel, where they served as a Senior Auditor from 1989 to 1992. In this role, they performed financial, compliance, and operational audits, as well as assisted in external audit activities. Finally, Cheryl joined AmeriHealth Caritas in September 1992 as Vice President, Corporate Audit. Cheryl was responsible for overseeing the Internal Audit department, coordinating external audit activities, and managing Fraud, Waste, and Abuse activities for the organization.

Cheryl Monkman obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Penn State University from 1980 to 1984. Later, they pursued their MBA in Health and Medical Services Administration from Widener University, completing it from 1995 to 1999. Additionally, Cheryl has obtained certifications such as "Implementing Winning Strategies" from Columbia Business School in 2018, "Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)" in December 2012 from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc., and "Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)" in December 1991, also from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc.
