Richard Barnes

Richard Barnes has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Richard began their career at GenRad Inc as a Senior Engineer, where they designed a molded plastic mechanical interface for circuit boards and developed an automated system for wiring interfaces based on CAD data and test programs. Richard then worked as an Engineering Manager at M/A-COM Inc, where they developed a manufacturing process using automated vision systems and successfully relocated the engineering and manufacturing operations of the high-power radar products division.

Afterwards, Barnes joined Vicor Corporation as a Director, where they implemented integrated electronics simulation, design, and 3D mechanical modeling tools. Richard also integrated data from the product data management and manufacturing planning systems to create controlling feeds for a flexible manufacturing environment.

At Polaroid Corporation, Barnes served as the MIS Strategy Manager and implemented centralized IT services, resulting in significant cost reductions. Richard also developed and implemented a strategy to replace multiple ASK-MANMAN installations with a single instance of SAP for the worldwide manufacturing operations.

Richard also created a strategy, architecture, and business plan for a telecommunications industry B2B e-Marketplace.

Following that, Barnes worked at Plaut Consulting as a Director, overseeing SAP projects for Atlas Air and initiating partnerships with other consultancies for SAP implementation engagements.

Richard later joined Atlas Air as the VP - Information Technology, where they were responsible for back office automation and the implementation of SAP. Atlas Air is the global leading provider of heavy lift air cargo services.

Barnes then served as the Chief Information Officer & VP, Human Resources at United Maritime Group.
