John Faulkner

Director, Group Strategy at Amey

John Faulkner is the Director of Group Strategy at Amey. John has over 15 years of experience in strategy and policy development, both in the UK and internationally.

Prior to joining Amey, John was the Director of Strategy & International Networks at the Department for Transport (DfT). John was responsible for developing transport strategy and spending plans, as well as providing support to DfT Board and Ministers on delivering policy priorities. John also played a key role in policy development for aviation and maritime sectors, and represented the UK government in international business affairs.

Some of John’s notable achievements during their time at DfT include leading negotiations for the Comprehensive Spending Review, successfully defending Stansted Airport expansion plans following a High Court challenge, and securing developer contributions to fund transport links to London Gateway port.

Before joining DfT, John was a Review Manager at HM Treasury. In this role, they were responsible for managing a team of economists and policy experts who provided analysis and advice on a range of economic issues.

John Faulkner studied civil engineering at Newcastle Upon Tyne University in the UK, and went on to get a certification from the Institution of Civil Engineers as a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng).

They are on a team with Peter Anderson - MD, Transport Infrastructure, Paco Hevia - MD, Waste Treatment, and Craig McGilvray - MD, Secure Infrastructure & Utilities. John Faulkner reports to Amanda Fisher, CEO.
