Marty Porter

Marty Porter serves as the Medical Director for Ultra-Rare Medicines at Amgen since October 2023, having previously held several medical director roles focused on rare diseases and urea cycle disorders at Horizon from May 2015 to October 2023. Prior to that, Marty worked at Hyperion Therapeutics as a Medical Science Liaison from April 2013 to May 2015, and at Astellas Pharma US as a Senior Scientific Liaison from July 2007 to October 2012. Earlier experience includes roles as a Medical Science Liaison at Science Oriented Solutions and as a Scientific Manager at International Medical Press. Marty's career began at Piedmont Hospital's Fuqua Heart Center as a Clinical Research Investigator, followed by a Research Scientist position at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Physiology from ETH Zürich, an MS in Nutrition, and a BS in Biology from The University of Georgia.
