Lawrence Kluttz

Lawrence Kluttz currently serves as the Associate Chief Communications Officer and Head of Government Relations at Amherst College since April 2023. Prior to this role, Lawrence held various positions at Duke University from August 2017 to April 2023, including Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement and Director of Communications in the Office of the President. Lawrence has extensive experience in communications, having previously served as Communications Director for Congressman David Price, where responsibilities included advising on media activities and managing press relationships. Lawrence's career also includes roles in crisis communications at Direct Impact/Burson-Marsteller, policy analysis for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, and communications leadership for the Fix the Debt Campaign. Educational credentials comprise a Master’s degree in English Language and Literature from Middlebury College and a BA in English from Davidson College.
