Dr. Charles P. Morgan served as CEO of Union Gospel Mission for five and a half years ending his tenure in June 2020. His goal is to uplift the larger community in addressing systemic poverty and the roadblocks that prevent thriving in underprivileged and underserved communities. Dr. Morgan hails from Thibodaux, Louisiana, and is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He is a graduate of Antioch Christian University, where he earned a doctorate degree in Theology. Dr. Morgan’s most recent degree is from Fuller Theological Seminary, where he graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
He served as Founder and Senior Pastor of Resurrection Life Fellowship, a non-denominational Christian Church located in Westchester, California, for 33 years. In 1986 Dr. Morgan founded the Resurrection Life Church in Malawi East Central Africa. The ministry there has prospered and grown for the past 30 years. Concurrent with his pastoral ministry, he worked as a psychiatric social worker for kedren Community Mental Health in a specialized program working with the most treatment-resistant clients in Los Angeles County. Subsequently, he worked in Skid Row as Vice President of Program at the Los Angeles Mission.
Dr. Morgan has a passion for developing leaders underscored in his experience inclusive of teaching Leadership Skills and Personal Development at Penske College, the multi-billion dollar auto industry giant. He serves on the board of directors of City Gate, an association of Missions across the United States and Canada, serving those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. He teaches seminars on mental health, diversity, and relational and family dynamics to equip community leaders and service providers to effectively engage in cross-cultural contact with diverse and immigrant populations and communities. He is a theologian and international conference speaker. He is a Clinical Fellow of the Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and an Approved Supervisor Candidate.
