Alicia Talamas Leal currently serves as a Program Assistant at the United States Institute of Peace since July 2023. Simultaneously, Alicia has been working as an English-Spanish Translator for the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights Coalition since June 2021. Previous experiences include roles such as AUx Senior Peer Facilitator and AUx Peer Facilitator at American University from August 2020 to May 2023, and research and development intern at Alhadaf Institute from September to December 2022. Alicia also held internships at Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights, the Museum of the Palestinian People, and worked as a Chief of Staff and Under Director General for the American University International Relations Society. Earlier experience encompasses a role as a Student Research Assistant at the American University School of International Service and an internship with the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth. Alicia holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Arab World Studies from American University (2019-2023) and a high school diploma from Ursuline Academy of Dallas (2019).
