Emma Stirland

Emma Stirland has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Emma currently holds the position of Chief Risk Officer at Amigo Loans since March 2023. Prior to this, they served as an Interim Chief Risk Officer at the same company from November 2022 to March 2023. Before joining Amigo Loans, Emma worked at Barclays for a significant period. Emma held various roles at Barclays, including Head of Operational Rigour, Wholesale Onboarding and Financial Crime from August 2019 to September 2021, and Risk Director from September 2016 to September 2021. Emma also had roles within Barclays' Global Payments division, where they served as the Global Head of Application Control from February 2011 to September 2016. Their responsibilities in this role included global governance of application controls and providing assurance for key controls. Before that, they held the position of Head of Standards and Assurance from November 2005 to May 2011 within Barclays Personal & Corporate Banking, where they developed and implemented an IT security framework for retail and corporate banking. Emma's career at Barclays started in 2000, working as a Third Line IT Consultant until November 2002. Emma also gained international experience during their tenure at Barclays Africa Group Limited, where they served as the Head of Information Security from July 2003 to November 2005, overseeing security teams across multiple locations. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Risk Consultant at Barclays Africa Group Limited between November 2002 and July 2003. Emma Stirland's career demonstrates their expertise in risk management, information security, and governance across various sectors within the financial industry.

Emma Stirland attended the University of Exeter, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Biological Sciences. Following their undergraduate studies, Emma then enrolled at the University of Leicester to complete their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Evolutionary Biology.
