Amigos de las Americas (AMIGOS)
Kirsten Chaplin currently serves as an Outreach Coordinator at Amigos de las Americas (AMIGOS) since August 2024. Previously, Kirsten held various positions at the American Institutes for Research from April 2022 to August 2024, including Project Associate and Project Assistant in International Development. At Casas de Luz, from October 2018 to January 2023, Kirsten led the home-build program in Mexico, increasing the organization’s capacity by 200% over four years. Additional experience includes a role as a Staff Member at JUCUM Conexiones in late 2021, focusing on partnerships and administration, and serving as a Project Supervisor at AMIGOS in 2019, where Kirsten coordinated logistics for volunteers in Ecuador. Kirsten is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Peace and Justice at the Kroc School, University of San Diego, following a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from UC San Diego.

AMIGOS is an international nonprofit organization, with headquarters in Houston, TX. Founded in 1965, AMIGOS has established a strong network of partners across Latin America making it possible to provide authentic community engagement and cultural immersion for our program participants. In our 55 year history, we have had over 29,000 alumni complete our programs with a greater social awareness, stronger leadership skills, and increased passion to be agents of social change.
