Amistad Abroad designs ethical Spanish immersion and volunteer programs that connect international participants with local communities in a meaningful and responsible way.

Founded in Costa Rica in 2003, we work with universities, organizations and independent participants seeking language learning, service learning and culturally grounded experiences in Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico.

Our work combines:
• Spanish language immersion
• Community-based volunteer programs
• Cultural exchange rooted in local contexts

We specialize in custom-designed programs, faculty-led groups and individual placements, with careful project selection, strong community partnerships and close on-site support.

Our team has extensive experience in education, nonprofit administration, social development and international programs, allowing us to support both institutions and participants throughout the entire process.

At Amistad Abroad, we believe international programs should be built on respect, learning and long-term relationships — not tourism disguised as volunteering.
