Ketty Nivyabandi currently serves as the Secretary General of Amnesty International Canada, a position held since October 2020, where the focus is on advancing human rights goals and addressing injustices through a transformative vision. As the first woman and racialized person to assume this role, Ketty brings a commitment to equity and innovation. Prior to this, Ketty held the position of Advocacy and Strategic Research Manager at the Nobel Women's Initiative, where efforts supported women activists in conflict zones. Additional experience includes co-founding the Women's Movement for Peace and Security, directing the Information Resource Centre at the U.S. Department of State in Burundi, and serving in various communication roles. Ketty holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from United States International University - Africa and a Baccalaureate in Philosophy from Institution Saint Joseph in France.
