Melak Mengistab Gebresilassie

Melak Mengistab Gebresilassie currently serves as a Corporate Accountability and Climate Justice Campaigner at Amnesty International Canada since January 2023, following a role as a Researcher and Facilitator at The Common Earth from March 2020 to January 2023. Melak has an extensive academic background, including a position as a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at Bahir Dar University from December 2014 to January 2019, where responsibilities included delivering engaging lectures and fostering critical thinking. Melak's educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Development Studies with a focus on Human Rights, Gender, and Conflict from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, as well as a Master's degree in Human Rights and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Addis Ababa University. Notably, two master's theses addressed significant societal issues, including Gender-Based Violence among female university students in Ethiopia and the link between agricultural land commercialization and ethnic conflict in specific regions.
