Karen Shepherd has extensive experience in governance and democratic services, currently serving as Company Secretary and Head of Governance at Amnesty International since January 2023. Prior to this role, Karen held various positions at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead from September 2003 to December 2022, advancing from Democratic Services Officer to Head of Governance and Deputy Monitoring Officer. Additionally, early career experience includes roles as an Intern at the UK Mission to the United Nations and a Research Associate at the Global Policy Forum. Karen holds a BScEcon (Hons) in Politics and Government from Swansea University and completed a study year abroad in American Politics and Government at the University at Albany.
