Advocacy Advisor On AI Regulation at Amnesty International

Mher Hakobyan is an experienced advocacy advisor specializing in AI regulation, currently leading the Algorithmic Accountability Lab's efforts at Amnesty International since June 2022, with a focus on the EU’s AI Act. Prior to this role, Mher served as an accessibility officer at the European Disability Forum, implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in various sectors. Previous positions include assistant officer roles at Equinet and the Council of Europe, as well as volunteer work advocating for independent living. Mher co-founded "Cooperation for Development" NGO and has gained valuable international experience through internships and educational pursuits, holding multiple master's degrees from prestigious institutions including the London School of Economics and Leipzig University, and a bachelor's degree in political science from Yerevan State University.
