Michael Culler

Chief Scientific Officer at Amolyt Pharma

Michael Culler is an experienced scientist and executive with a focus on endocrinology research. Michael started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Tulane Medical Center, where they worked on the isolation and characterization of novel brain hormones. Michael then served as a Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) before joining the Johnson and Johnson Immunobiology Research Institute as an Assistant Director of Endocrinology Research.

In 1995, Culler joined Ipsen, where they held various leadership positions over the course of 22 years. Michael was the Vice President of Endocrinology Research, responsible for directing successful research programs and managing multiple diverse endocrine/metabolic indications. Under their leadership, Ipsen developed five compounds that are currently in or completing clinical development.

Culler founded their own consulting firm, Culler Consulting, LLC, in 2017, where they served as President. In this role, they provided strategic guidance and expertise to clients in the biopharmaceutical industry.

In 2018, Culler took on two additional roles. Michael became the Chief Scientific Officer at Amolyt Pharma, a company specializing in developing therapeutic peptides for rare endocrine and metabolic diseases. Michael also became the Scientific Founder and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board at Tiburio Therapeutics, focused on advancing novel treatments for serious neuroendocrine disorders.

Throughout their career, Culler has demonstrated a strong track record of success, including the out-licensing of assets for development, securing venture capital funding, and co-founding Rhythm Pharmaceuticals. Michael has also been involved in the development of several innovative compounds for the treatment of conditions such as osteoporosis, diabetes, and obesity.

Michael Culler has an extensive education history in the field of biological sciences. Michael completed their Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Hood College in 1976. Michael then pursued a Master's Degree in Physiology at the University of Maryland from 1976 to 1978. Following this, they attended Texas A&M University where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Endocrine Physiology between 1978 and 1981. Finally, they underwent postdoctoral training in Neuroendocrinology at the Tulane University School of Medicine. However, the specific start and end years for this training are not provided.
