Bhupesh is currently the Vice President of Silicon Engineering at Ampere, a role they have held since January 2023. Prior to this, Bhupesh was the Senior Director of Silicon Engineering at Ampere from October 2017 to February 2023.

Before joining Ampere, Bhupesh worked at Veloce Technologies + Applied Macro from April 2010 to September 2017 as a Distinguished Engineer. In this role, they led CPU implementation and physical design, focusing on floorplanning, timing convergence, and tapeout. Bhupesh was also responsible for the design and implementation of the L2$ and L3$ caches and led the DDR3/4 memory control unit through tapeout.

From October 2008 to April 2010, Bhupesh worked at Oracle as a Principal Hardware Engineer. In this role, they were involved in critical path estimation and resolution at the chip level. Bhupesh also worked on prototyping critical blocks in the core for floorplanning and timing, and contributed to the development of flow for early stage design exploration.

Prior to their time at Oracle, Bhupesh worked at Montalvo Systems Inc from October 2005 to 2008 as a Senior Hardware Design Engineer and Implementation Lead. Here, they were responsible for the design and implementation of CPU sub-blocks, including floorplanning, placement, and wire-planning. Bhupesh also played a critical role in timing closure and provided feedback to RTL/Architecture teams.

From January 1999 to September 2005, Bhupesh worked at Infineon Technologies as a Staff Engineer. In this role, they were involved in the architecture, design, and development of digital full custom blocks for the Tricore processor.

Bhupesh started their career at Duet Technologies in August 1997 as an MTS Engineer, where they primarily worked on standard cell library development. Bhupesh was responsible for quality check flows, device sizing methodology, and library design enhancements.

Bhupesh began their professional journey at Philips Components in 1991 as a Maintenance Engineer.

Throughout their career, Bhupesh has gained expertise in various aspects of silicon engineering, including floorplanning, timing convergence, tapeout, critical path estimation, prototyping, macro cell functionalities, flow development, integration, and full custom block design.

Bhupesh Balakrishnan completed their education in a chronological order. Bhupesh started their education in 1989-1991 at Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, where they pursued a degree in Electronics. Following this, from 1991-1996, they attended Savitribai Phule Pune University and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunication. Later, in 1996-1997, they attended CDAC, Pune, where they specialized in HDL and Logic Design and received a Diploma in VLSI Design.
