John McCrea has a diverse work experience starting in 1994 when they worked as the Director of Marketing at SGI. John was responsible for bringing SGI into the internet business and spearheading the development of various industry-leading products.
In 1998, McCrea co-founded Affinia, an online commerce and advertising company, where they served as the VP of Marketing. John played a crucial role in landing key partnerships, including Amazon.
From 2001 to 2005, McCrea worked as the SVP of Marketing at Radiance Technologies, where they were instrumental in landing major customers in aerospace, automotive, and military markets.
In 2006, McCrea joined Plaxo as the VP of Marketing and led the reinvention of the brand, product, and mission. Their efforts contributed to the acquisition of the company by Comcast in 2008. John also developed the product strategy for Plaxo's cloud-based smart address book.
From 2010 to 2011, McCrea worked at Comcast as the GM of Tunerfish, a new business unit in the Social TV space. John led the team that built a highly-rated mobile app and secured partnerships with major media companies.
In 2012, McCrea co-founded MediaSpike and served as the CMO. John developed an innovative ad platform for in-game virtual product placement and led efforts to adapt offerings for the emerging virtual reality market.
From 2015 to 2018, McCrea was the CEO and Co-founder of Ethereal VR, a virtual reality software startup focused on music visualization.
Currently, since 2018, McCrea is the CMO of Amplify.ai, a company that provides AI-driven conversational marketing solutions for brands.
John McCrea has an education history that includes a degree in Physics (original major) and Humanities (degree) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. John also holds an MBA degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, with a focus on Entrepreneurship, marketing, and strategy.
