Hunter Ploch has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. In 2009, they began their career as a Stanford Varsity Men's Water Polo player. In 2012, they interned at the Santa Clara County Office of Sustainability Office. Hunter also served as a Student Advisor at Stanford Earth Systems. In 2013, they became a Systems Engineer for Stanford Solar Decathlon, where they engineered energy budgets, predicted solar panel performance, and performed other energy-related calculations. In 2014, they began working as a Commercial Sales Engineer at SolarCity where they designed, estimated cost, and estimated production for commercial systems. In 2016, they joined Tesla as a Project Development Engineer, managing the post-contract development process for commercial solar and energy storage projects across the Americas. In 2018, they became the Managing Director of Development at Omni Energy, working to build the necessary systems to develop, finance, and construct low-income solar projects. In 2020, they started their own consulting firm, HP Solutions LLC, and became a Senior Sales Engineer at AMPLY Power, Inc., advising the Sales team on technical details to develop new projects and close deals. Hunter also provided technical training on AMPLY solutions to channel and strategic partners. In the same year, they passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, the first step in securing a professional engineering (PE) license.

Hunter Ploch attended Stanford University from 2009 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Earth Systems: Energy Science and Technology in 2014, and a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2013.
