Ruben van den Brink

Chief Technology Officer at AMS-IX

Ruben van den Brink has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Ruben currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at AMS-IX since March 2021. Prior to this, they worked at SURF from 2016 to 2021, where they served as an Advisor for Quantum Strategy and Head of Network Services. At SURF, they played a crucial role in developing a quantum strategy and implementing it, as well as providing innovative ICT services to the Research & Education community.

Earlier in their career, Ruben worked at Ericsson Broadcast Services from 2011 to 2016, where they held various managerial positions including Head of Managed Service Delivery, Service Delivery Manager, and Manager Production Office. Before joining Ericsson, they worked at Technicolor from 2009 to 2011 as a Service Delivery Coordinator.

Ruben's career began at Radboud University Nijmegen in 2004 as a jr. researcher in mathematics. During their time there, they conducted research in Foundations of Mathematics and also participated in student recruitment and PR activities. Ruben remained at the university until 2008.

Ruben van den Brink's education history is as follows:

Ruben attended Nyenrode Business University in 2012 to 2013 to complete a Leadership Development Program. Ruben did not obtain a degree during this time.

In 2007, Ruben studied Intuitionistic Mathematics at Uppsala University, but did not obtain a degree.

From 1998 to 2003, Ruben studied Physics and Mathematics at Utrecht University, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree.

In 1996 to 1998, Ruben attended Wageningen University & Research, where they obtained a Propedeuse degree in Bioprocestechnology and Molecular Science.

Ruben completed their secondary education at Gymnasium Bernrode from 1990 to 1996, earning a VWO degree with a focus on sciences along with Latin and French.

In addition to their formal education, Ruben has obtained certifications from edX. In 2021, they received the edX Verified Certificate for Architecture, Algorithms, and Protocols of a Quantum Computer and Quantum Internet. In 2020, they obtained the edX Verified Certificate for The Hardware of a Quantum Computer.
