Jan Visser

Jan Visser is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both the golf and scientific research sectors. Currently serving as a Board Member and chair of the Handicap & Course Rating Committee at the European Golf Association since January 2024, Jan also holds multiple roles at Nikhef, including Coordinator of Industrial Contacts and Staff Scientist focused on detector research and development, specifically involving Medipix technology for medical imaging applications. Jan has contributed significantly to the Nederlandse Golf Federatie as a Board Member and previously as Chairman of the Rules Committee. Additionally, Jan co-founded Amsterdam Scientific Instruments B.V., acting as Scientific Advisor and Chief Operations Officer, overseeing the production of advanced X-ray detector systems. Jan's earlier experience includes project leadership roles in detector development and semiconductor device simulations, as well as work as an Accelerator Physicist, rounding out a robust career in both physics and golf administration. Jan holds a PhD in High Energy Physics from the University of Groningen and a Master's in Physics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
