Charles Planck is an experienced transportation professional currently serving as the Director of Planning for Amtrak's Northeast Corridor since June 2022, focusing on modernizing transit infrastructure in collaboration with federal and state partners. Prior to Amtrak, Charles held various significant positions at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, including Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Analysis and Deputy Director of Capital Planning and Programming. Charles also worked at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in multiple roles, including Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chief of Staff, where responsibilities spanned service planning, performance management, and interagency coordination. Charles's career commenced at MBCR as Director of Planning and included earlier experience with Alternate Concepts, Inc. Charles holds a Master's degree in Transportation and Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Political Development from Earlham College.
