Shanrong Zhao has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology. Shanrong is currently working as the Vice President, Head of Bioinformatics, Data Analytics, and Library Design at Amunix Pharmaceuticals since 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President, Data Sciences at AbSci from 2020 to 2021.
Before joining AbSci, Shanrong worked at Pfizer as the Director of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from 2016 to 2020 and as a Senior Manager in Computational Biology and Next Generation Sequencing from 2014 to 2016. Shanrong also worked at Johnson & Johnson as a Senior Scientist in Computational Biology and Antibody Engineering from 2004 to 2014, and at Egea Biosciences, Inc (acquired by JNJ in 2004) as a Research Scientist in Bioinformatics and Protein Design from 2001 to 2004.
Shanrong's early work experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute from 1998 to 2001, and a Visiting Scientist role in Protein Structure Prediction at the University of Salzburg in 1997.
Shanrong Zhao has an extensive education history. Shanrong obtained a Ph.D. in computational chemistry/biology from The Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997. Shanrong then pursued a Master of Science degree in computer science from San Diego State University, which they completed in 2001.
In 2020, Shanrong Zhao graduated from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. The field of study for their MBA is not specified.
In addition to their formal education, Shanrong Zhao has acquired various certifications. In 2002, they obtained the Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Master certification from Oracle. In 2007, they became a MySQL 5.6 Database Administrator certified by MySQL AB. Subsequently, in 2008, they achieved the Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) certification offered by Sun Microsystems.
Furthermore, Shanrong Zhao obtained the Deep Learning Specialization from DeepLearning.AI in August 2021.
