Irene Litvan is a highly experienced neurologist and academic leader, currently serving as the Director of the Parkinson Disease and Other Movement Disorders Center and holding the position of Tasch Endowed Professor at UC San Diego since 2011. As the Director of the UCSD National Parkinson Disease Center of Excellence, Irene Litvan has made significant contributions to the field of movement disorders. Previously, Irene Litvan was the Raymond Lee Lebby Professor and Director of the NPF Center of Excellence on Parkinson's disease at the University of Louisville from 2002 to 2011, and a Senior Staff Fellow at the National Institutes of Health from 1992 to 1997. Education includes a Doctor of Medicine degree from Facultad de Medicina de La Republica Oriental Del Uruguay, completion of the Neurology Residency Program at Georgetown University, and an MD from Universidad de la Republica.
