Chris Baker, PhD, is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in strain engineering and plant physiological analysis. Currently serving as Scientist III at Amyris since February 2022, Chris has played a key role in multiple strain improvement campaigns. Previously, Chris was a Senior Research Scientist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, leading a team in multi-omics analysis of drought-stressed sorghum while utilizing data science tools like JMP, Python, and R. Chris also conducted post-doctoral research at UC Berkeley, focusing on metabolic redox processes in various model organisms, and at UCSF, where Chris completed a PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Biochemistry. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Oberlin College.
