Lauren Raetz

Director, Technical Program Management at Amyris

Lauren Raetz has a varied work experience. Lauren began their career in 2006 as a Graduate Researcher and PhD Candidate at the University of California Los Angeles. In this role, they identified, sequenced and characterized the novel gene cluster responsible for biosynthesis of anticancer tetracycline SF2575 from Streptomyces sp. SF2575 and utilized bioinformatic analysis to propose putative pathway to guide research objectives. Lauren also elucidated the function of a majority of the genes in the pathway through a combination of heterologous reconstitution, genetic knockout, and in vitro biochemical analysis. In 2007, they took on the role of Molecular Biology Intern at Amyris. Finally, in 2011, they became a Principal Scientist, and later a Scientist, at Amyris.

Lauren Raetz completed their Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology between 2000 and 2005. Lauren then went on to receive their PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles between 2005 and 2011.
