Brian Woods

Brian Woods is an accomplished law enforcement professional with extensive experience in counter-terrorism, crime prevention, and financial crime investigations within An Garda Síochána since January 1992. Currently serving as the Head of Counter Terrorism and Detective Chief Superintendent, Brian leads national and international efforts to combat terrorism through the development of intelligence frameworks and operational strategies. With a strong background in organisational transformation, Brian has successfully headed initiatives aimed at enhancing compliance and accountability across the organisation. Additionally, Brian has held key roles in tackling serious organised crime, financial crimes, and corruption, and has contributed to international peacekeeping efforts as a Community Liaison Officer with the United Nations. Brian holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master of Arts in Serious Crime Investigation and a Master of Laws in Human Rights in Criminal Justice, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and leadership in policing.
