Katherine Ratliff

Director of Biospecimen Network Operations at Analytical Biological Services

Katherine Ratliff has over a decade of experience in the field of biospecimen operations. Katherine is currently the Director of Biospecimen Network Operations at Analytical Biological Services Inc. (ABS Inc.), a position they have held since June 2021. Prior to their current role, Katherine worked at ABS Inc. as the Biospecimen Operations Manager from January 2011 to July 2021. In this position, they were responsible for procurement from a multi-site global network and played a key role in new site development processes.

Before joining ABS Inc., Katherine worked at Indiana University School of Medicine. From November 2010 to January 2011, they served as a Clinical Research Specialist, coordinating breast cancer clinical trials and ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant from August 2008 to January 2011, managing a genitourinary cancer tissue repository and facilitating patient enrollment.

Katherine's earlier experience includes an internship at Indiana University School of Medicine, Dept. of Pathology from May 2009 to August 2010, where they focused on grant planning and funding organization. Katherine also worked as a Student Intern during this time, performing tissue banking activities and researching the role of angiogenesis in cancer.

Furthermore, Katherine worked as a Research Assistant at Indiana University Center for Bioethics from January 2008 to August 2008, where they addressed ethical and policy issues related to pandemic influenza preparedness. Katherine organized stakeholder panels and presented findings to inform a summit on pandemic influenza planning.

Katherine Ratliff began their career as a VISTA Member at AmeriCorps from 2007 to 2008, promoting health and implementing obesity education programs in Indiana.

Throughout their diverse work experience, Katherine has demonstrated expertise in biospecimen operations, clinical research coordination, tissue banking, and ethical issues in public health emergencies.

Katherine Ratliff obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, which they pursued from 2003 to 2007. Later, they attended Indiana University School of Medicine, where they earned a Master's in Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Public Health and Health Policy from 2007 to 2010.
