Sam Horovatin has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Currently, they are employed as a Product Specialist at Andgo Systems since August 2022. Prior to this, Sam worked as a Laboratory Technician and Teaching Assistant at the University of Saskatchewan from January 2020 to August 2022. As a Teaching Assistant, they took on leadership responsibilities, supporting the instructor in curriculum development and coordinating the teaching of labs for various courses. They also marked coursework and exams and taught both in-person and online labs.
In 2021, Sam worked as a Bioinformatician at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for a few months. Their responsibilities included developing a genomic sequence of interest notification system, creating and updating bioinformatics pipelines, and aiding in the implementation of adaptive sampling workflows.
Before that, Sam gained experience as a Project Coordinator Intern at Canpotex Limited from May 2017 to September 2020. In this role, they led a technology project team, supervised another intern, and managed external technical contractors involved in data science projects.
Sam also worked briefly as a Claims Adjuster Assistant at Intact in 2016. They started their professional journey in 2012 as a Recreation Leader - Summer Camps at The City of Calgary. In this role, they were responsible for planning and delivering summer camp programs for children aged 3-12, providing active supervision, and assuming staff supervisory duties when required.
Sam Horovatin completed their education at the University of Saskatchewan from 2014 to 2020, earning a Bachelor of Science Honours (BSc Honours SE) degree with a major in Computer Science. Additionally, in May 2022, they obtained a certification in Building Containerized Applications on AWS from Coursera.
