Derek Mead

Derek Mead is an accomplished editorial partner at Andreessen Horowitz, focusing on multimedia content for the firm's Growth fund since March 2024. Previously, as CEO of Earthbound Pictures from July 2020 to March 2024, Derek led an Emmy-nominated production company specializing in science, technology, and future nonfiction media. Prior experience at VICE Media includes roles as Editor-in-Chief, Executive Editor, and Executive Producer, where Derek oversaw large teams, managed digital and broadcast content strategies, and significantly grew global audience metrics. Additional reporting and editorial positions were held at Motherboard, Greentech Media, Digital Trends, Enterprise-Record, and Daily Nexus. Derek holds a B.S. in Zoology from UC Santa Barbara.
