Nick Whiting

Scout Investor

Nick Whiting is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in the gaming and software development industries. Currently serving as Technical Co-founder at kumikai and Scout Investor at Andreessen Horowitz, Whiting focuses on early-stage investments in gaming and related sectors. As a Founding Board Member at the University of Washington Information School, Whiting contributes to the academic community. Previously at Epic Games from 2009 to 2023, Whiting held multiple leadership roles, including Senior Director of Simulation and Research Engineering and Studio Head of Epic Games Bellevue, where oversight of teams working on Unreal Engine's Gameplay Frameworks and R&D efforts was a priority. Additionally, Whiting chaired the OpenXR Working Group at The Khronos Group, facilitating the creation of an open standard for virtual and augmented reality applications. Academic credentials include a B.S. and B.A. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, complemented by a Biomedical Engineering Certificate and proficiency in Japanese.
