Ashwin Amanna

Ashwin Amanna has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. Ashwin began their career as an Engineering CO-OP at Intel in 1989. Ashwin then worked as a Research Engineer at the Food and Drug Administration in 1993.

Amanna joined Virginia Tech in 1994 and held various roles, including Research Assistant, Program Manager, Senior Research Associate, Assistant Director, Project Manager, and Business Development Manager. During their time at Virginia Tech, they focused on research in wireless communications, intelligent transportation systems, and cognitive science. Ashwin successfully managed over $8M in funding from sponsors such as Cisco Systems, FHWA, and VDOT.

In 2012, Amanna worked as the Director of Engineering at Federated Wireless, a venture capital startup focused on traffic shaping and spectrum sharing.
