Emrich Hamman

Emrich Hamman is a seasoned professional in geotechnical engineering with over 25 years of experience in the mining industry. Currently serving as Vice President of Geotechnical Engineering at AngloGold Ashanti since September 1997, Emrich leads geotechnical engineering services and support across the company's global operations and projects. Previous roles include Senior Manager of Geotechnical Engineering for COOi, where Emrich coordinated deliverables across international regions, and Principal Specialist for open pits. Emrich's early career involved roles such as Regional Geotechnical Engineer, Senior Geotechnical Engineer, and Geotechnical Engineer, contributing to operational queries, geotechnical designs, and technical reviews. Emrich began as a Trainee Seismologist at ISS International, following extensive education, including a Master’s degree in Mining Geomechanics from Curtin University and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering from Stellenbosch University.
