Gustavo Chavez

Gustavo Chavez is a seasoned mining professional with extensive experience in underground mine planning and technical services. Currently serving as Superintendent of UG Mine Planning at AngloGold Ashanti since April 2023, Chavez previously held several leadership positions, including Superintendent of UG Mine Technical Services at Northern Star Resources Limited and Specialist Senior Mining Engineer at Barrick Gold Corporation. Notable earlier roles include Senior UG Planning/Production Engineer at GOLD FIELDS, Open Pit and UG Engineering Superintendent at Goldcorp USA Inc., and Head of Mine Planning at GLENCORE, where responsibilities spanned areas such as mine design and project management. Chavez began a career in mining as a Long Term Planning Engineer at Compañía Minera Los Quenuales Peru after acquiring a degree in Mining Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería and studying Mathematics at Universidad Nacional del Callao.
