AWA is a private, no-kill, 501(c)3 organization that does not receive federal, state, or county funding. We rely completely on donations. All of our animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas, micro-chipped, and come with one free month of pet health insurance. (Insurance excludes rabbits and small animals). There are adoption and surrender fees required to fund and continue our life-saving work.

AWA was founded in 1948 by a small group on individuals who wanted to address and help the problem of unwanted pets in our community. The Animal Care Team at the Animal Welfare Association is dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of all animals in our care. This team consists of highly skilled professionals including Animal Technicians, Veterinarians, Behavior Assistants, and Adoption Specialists. They work collaboratively to provide medical treatment, behavioral support, and enrichment activities. They also facilitate smooth intake and rehoming processes to ensure that each animal finds a loving and permanent home.
