The artist's impulse – and privilege – is to explore, to create, and to affect. To possess and pursue one’s unique interest, focus, and form of expression. To manifest one’s voice and step forward with it, and as it. To make oneself available and put oneself on display. Defiant, yet vulnerable.

To open. To invite. To be one’s essence.

To reflect impressions and thereby generate new (self-)images, communities, and identities is a process shaped by many factors. For what filters are at play? Who and what influence, color, and define who you are and what you create, and why and how?

Your appearance. Your language. Your creations.

All of it is you. And yet, no one and nothing exists in isolation from the world around them, or from those who perceive you as they are.

They speak of you.
They reflect on you.
They show you.

They reveal themselves – either with or against you.

Bring you in.
Bring you along.
Patiently.
Kindly.

ANJAJENS is a genuine construction.

A unique entity – boundlessly creative and comprised by two individuals. Anja and Jens. On our own, we are each something unique. Together, we become something different entirely.

Our work is a continual journey of exploration and adventure. We explore, challenge, and examine individuals, relationships, and identities. Meeting others – many and diverse – is a vital part of our practice. We reflect in, on, and with, others.

We experience. We inhabit. We emerge in the encounter.

We act. We exist. We are revealed.
